Inventors: Gilbert Kuypers, Technical Director, KM Medical, trained in Precision Engineering at Philips Netherlands before moving to New Zealand where he joined the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research as a Metrologist. Later he was employed as a Biomedical Engineer at Auckland Hospital Dept of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering before establishing his own company ASU Ltd to service hospital respiratory equipment. Richard McCulloch, Managing Director KM Medical, was educated at the University of Auckland and the Graduate School of Design Harvard. His developments, primarily in the field of Respiratory Care Equipment, have won twelve International Awards including three Industrial Design Awards, a Gold medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva and a SONY Excellence in Innovation Award. Finalists in the 2008 Bayer Innovation Awards for Research and Development, Richard McCulloch and Gilbert Kuypers, founders of KM Medical, have previously collaborated in the research, development and international licensing of Respiratory Equipment.
